Trivet

This trivet was inspired by honeycomb. I focused on using negative space with the randomized cutouts to make it appear more like it would in nature. I also experimented with using glass beads that melted to make the honeycomb look as if it is full of honey.

Wall Piece

My wall piece was heavily inspired by Alice in Wonderland because I have always enjoyed the aesthetic of the movies and the book. Our requirements for this project were to make a wall piece that had several parts to it. I decided to make a broken clock that is made up of four pieces. It has card deck suites in place of the numbers and wire holding it together to give it a damaged look. The hands on the clock are also crooked to convey the idea of a broken clock. Overall, I wanted to make this piece look chaotic to capture the insanity of Wonderland.

Tableware

For the tableware project, I chose to make a butterdish. I wanted the piece to look as if it was melting and dripping like water droplets. I used terracotta clay which gave it detail in the droplets. The blue glaze I used came out with small specs of brown in it that give it a lot of depth.

3D Printed

One of our projects was to 3D print a vessel using a computer program. This project was very different from our previous ones. It interesting to see how unique every student's piece turned out. My vessel was the first in my class to be printed and it came out very nicely. I smoothed the outside to get rid of the lines from the 3D printer, but I left them on the inside to add texture to it.
